I Was Sad I Had No Shoes…

…And then I saw a man who had no feet. Or legs for that matter. And I was inspired.

Malek Mohammed is an 18 year old double amputee from Kabul, Afghanistan. At age 11 he tragically lost both legs when he stepped on a landmine while walking on a field just outside the airport. Despite this and the fact that the differently-abled have next to no support in Afghanistan (simple prosthetics being impossible to get) this guy defies the odds and refuses to let his lack of legs hold him back.

Malek doesn’t even have a trainer yet aspires to be in the London 2012 Paralympics, specifically as a swimmer. Check out his inspiring story and video at CNN.
